Final Exam Excuses

The University Approved Absence Office and Dean of Students office DO NOT issue University Approved Absences for final exams.

DO NOT SUBMIT AN ONLINE REQUEST FOR UNIVERSITY APPROVED ABSENCES FOR FINAL EXAMS.  

If you will miss a final exam due to a medical or mental health concern, family or personal emergency, religious observance, or exam schedule conflict, please follow the instructions on page linked below and communicate directly with your instructor to schedule a make-up.  https://dos.unc.edu/student-support/class-absences-final-exam-rescheduling/

Law Enforcement

UNC POLICE

If you are concerned about the immediate safety of any member of our community or a visitor, please call 911 or UNC Police at 919-962-8100.

UNC Police is a fully accredited law enforcement agency that provides 24 hour  services, including emergency response. EMS will also be dispatched if needed.

Off Campus: Call 911
Anonymous crime reporting: Silent Witness Form.

Chapel Hill Police Department

For concerns related to an incident that may have occurred or is on-going in the City of Chapel Hill, the Chapel Hill Police Department (CHPD) is an additional resource.  The CHPD is located at 828 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 and can be reached at 919-968-2760 or by dialing 911.  You may also visit the CHPD website for additional information.

Mental / Emotional Health

If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of hurting themselves or has other urgent mental health needs:

Sexual Misconduct / Relationship Violence

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted or experienced relationship violence: UNC-Chapel Hill strongly encourages all students, faculty, and staff to report any incidents of sexual or relationship violence to the police by calling 911. Other resources can be found on the Safe at UNC website.

Housing Safety

If you are a student living on campus, you can also report any security concerns by calling your community director or the RA duty line.
